Vehicle Accessory Experts in Beresfield
Safety Car is a locally owned and family-operated small business that sells and installs vehicle accessories, trailer parts and security systems for domestic and commercial clients in the Maitland and Newcastle areas.
Our business first opened in 1996 through the vision and hard work of owner, Tom Murray. In the past two decades, it has remained in the family and has grown by leaps and bounds. Now with our more considerable inventory and larger client base, the company is still run by Tom and his wife, Kerrie, who provide the same level of service for each and every one of our valued customers.
About The Owner
Tom left Auto One as a parts interpreter in 1996 with roughly $2000 in his pocket and a $10,000 car loan.
While he was not entirely confident it was the right decision, he always had a passion for opening his own business.
For several years, he was supplying almost every car dealership in the Hunter Valley with Cruise Control and other add-on electrical accessories for new and used cars.
In 2006, we opened our shop in Beresfield, trading as Roof Rack City Hunter Valley and soon established ourselves as the largest NSW Customer of Rhino-Racks for three consecutive years.
More recently, we have expanded our inventory to include all the items we originally intended to serve local businesses in our area, plus a few more products for modern vehicles.
When you call the Safety Car shop, you will be talking with Tom or his wife, Kerrie.
She has been along for the ride since the start 22 years ago and has considerable knowledge of the automotive industry.
Our Work Philosophy
Safety Car has survived all these years by giving customers an excellent quality product and installation at a great price, growing year-by-year as we continue serving the region.
We supply fantastic automotive accessories, installed to ensure quality, dependability and integrity of your vehicle. With our company, you know right from the start you are valued, and it shows in every job we do.
Back when everyone used the yellow pages, Tom would spend half the day answering the phone and speaking with people looking only for the lowest price. But even after explaining why we charged a little more than some of the other guys, we would rarely get the job.
After a few years, I advertised as “Not the Cheapest but the Best.” That year I only spoke to those who wanted an excellent job done.
Over the years, Tom had some unfortunate experiences with products that were not Australian made and up to the highest standards of workmanship. It is why he sources items only from the most reputable manufacturers and will not install a product he does not trust.
Working on a customer’s car for the first time is when you make money, working on that same job again because of a problem is when you lose money.
Issues like this do not happen to clients when they come to Safety Car. We do a flawless job ensuring that your roof racks, towbars and other vehicle accessories are fitted perfectly the first time – every time.
